UCT is hosting some 360 international students on the first of the year's Semester-Study Abroad programmes.
The bulk of these students are on campus already, and were welcomed to the university by staff and students from the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) two weeks ago. The vice-chancellor, Professor Njabulo Ndebele, was also at the event to greet some of the newcomers.
The students on the current programme hail from 19 countries across the globe. The 360 mark represents an increase of about 100 students on last January's intake.
