The Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine's (IIDMM) Wolfson Pavilion was the venue for October's Barnard Fuller lunch, hosted by the health sciences faculty. The Barnard Fuller Society was established to recognise medical donors and friends who have made, or are contemplating making, bequests or deferred gifts to the faculty. The society brings these donors together twice a year, forging a close affiliation to the faculty.
Guests received copies of the faculty's Cathartic magazine as well as the latest edition of UCT News, the annual magazine for alumni. IIDMM's interim director Professor Wieland Gevers gave a short talk on the institute, followed by Professor Maurice Kibel's light-hearted take on growing old disgracefully - in the form of a poem.
