Overview of medical aid options
Discovery Health will visit UCT this week to give staff guidance on the Keycare plans. It would appear that many members are not using their plans effectively. The presentation will cover the benefits available to members and how to access these benefits (hospital, chronic, day-to-day benefits, networks and Keyclub). Staff can also ask questions about any problems they may have. The dates and venues are as follows:
Interationalisation under the spotlight
The Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Njabulo S Ndebele, and the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) will host a one-day colloquium on September 4 in the Kramer Lecture Theatre Two on middle campus, from 09h45 till 15h30. The theme is internationalisation at home. The colloquium forms part of an initiative to raise awareness about internationalisation at UCT, as well as part of the scheduled programme for an IAPO "family meeting" involving UCT and visitors from partner universities. The guest speakers are Prof Paul Zeleza of the Pennsylvania State University in the US and Dr Hanneke Teeken of NUFFIC, the Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education. Assoc Prof Nan Yeld, dean of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED), will respond to the presentations from a South African context. IAPO's Dr Loveness Kaunda will chair a workshop/discussion on the practical aspects of working with high concentrations of international students.
