The University of Cape Town (UCT) celebrated National Women’s Day on 8 August at a lunch hosted in Graça Machel Hall by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng. The theme was raising up African women in academia and in leadership roles. Poetry and music set a festive tone for guests who included gender activist Dr Vuyo Mahlati, as well as the first recipients of the #UCTForWomxnByWomxn Scholarships. Je’nine May caught the event on camera.
