Photo Je’nine May.Disability rights activist Mzolisi Toni received an honorary doctorate on Friday, 22 July during the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) first live and in person PhD graduation ceremony since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Mzolisi Toni’s efforts to advance disability rights in South Africa since the early 1990’s culminated in the first Postgraduate Diploma in Disability Studies being launched at UCT in 2003.

PhD Graduation July 2022
The July 2022 PhD candidates graduated on Friday, 22 July 2022 at their faculty’s graduation ceremony as per the published schedule available on the graduation page on the UCT Students website. Ceremonies were livestreamed on the website, and video recordings are now available on this feature page and on UCT’s YouTube channel.
