Soaking up the atmosphere: new UCT parents Stephanie and Cecil Cordiglia (left) chat to Charlene Jacobs at the General Inquiries staff during Parents' Day. Their daughter Natalie has registered for Physiotherapy.
THEY came from Singapore and Zambia, Gauteng and Crawford: parents in their scores, ready to sign their children into residences and to experience something of varsity life for themselves.
By all accounts, Parents' Day on Tuesday February 5 was a resounding success as approximately 1 000 new UCT parents took over the campus.
A general round of applause goes to all concerned, but especially to those staffers who conducted sessions for parents on aspects such as residence life, safety and security and adjusting to being the parent of a student.
