IMAP-based email uses Internet style addressing so this affects the way emails must be addressed. The old address format will fall away. For example, anyone sending an email to the ICTS helpdesk could in the past address the message to either "helpdesk" – if they were on the same server – or "its/helpdesk" if they were sending from another server on campus. Internet-style email addresses will be the only valid method of sending emails to colleagues in future, for example "helpdesk@its.uct.ac.za" or "hdfield@UCTGSH1.uct.ac.za".
