Concert ticket money buys African music instruments
02 June 2003
According to UCT's Head of Functions, Judy Smit, last year's annual Vice-Chancellor's concerts saw R3 600 being donated to the South African College of Music (SACM).
Smit said: “I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to those 180 staff members who chose not to have their ticket money refunded. Their generosity enabled the purchasing of much-needed instruments for the African Music Department.â€
This year the concerts, once again presented by members of the SACM, will be held on July 17 and 18, in the Baxter Concert Hall
