UCT recently rolled out the red carpet for a Norwegian delegation led by the country's minister of education and research, Kristin Clemet.
Clemet and her entourage of government and embassy officials - including the Norwegian ambassador to South Africa, John Bech - were visiting UCT and other tertiary institutions at the invitation of the minister of education, Professor Kader Asmal.
While at UCT, the group sat down with executives, administrators and researchers to talk about the ongoing co-operation between the university and Norwegian institutions. Norway, primarily via its Research Council of Norway, has been a regular and generous contributor to UCT, donating millions to research coffers around campus.
