Rainbow UCT and the Office for Inclusivity and Change (OIC) will be hosting Rainbow Week from Monday, 7 October, to Friday, 11 October 2019 in celebration of inclusivity across the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) campuses
Rainbow Week is an annual celebration of the university’s efforts to create an inclusive space for all. The organisers hope that the events planned will encourage everyone in the community to make UCT a more welcoming space for its gender- and sexually-diverse students and staff.
Events planned for the week include a queer poetry open mic night at the Centre for African Studies (CAS) Gallery, panel discussions across campus unpacking issues within LGBTQIA+, and live performances on the plaza.
Rainbow UCT’s pride march, a highlight of the week, will kick off on Thursday, 10 October, at 12:45. Participants will be assembling at North and South Jammie Shuttle stops simultaneously and will meet at the plaza for a performance by Manila Von Teez at 13:00.
Rainbow UCT is all about fostering an inclusive space for all queer-identifying individuals and cultivating a community of acceptance.
All members of the community are invited to take part.
