UCT’s 2025 First-Year Campus Reception

The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) upper campus was a hive of activity as thousands of first-year students participated in the annual First-Year Campus Reception (FYCR).

The FYCR took place at the Sports Centre from Saturday, 1 February, to Monday, 3 February 2025. During this time, newbies to UCT got their first real taste of campus life, met new friends and got to tick important tasks off their to-do list, one of which included getting their student card – a student’s campus ID. They also listened attentively as various key university role players took to the podium to address them on important need-to-knows – highlighting what they can expect as UCT students.
