THE LAST quarter of the year has seen the Development Office secure funding worth R8 611 740 for eleven projects at the University.
“This is the outcome of months of collaborative effort by the Development Office and faculty-based project leaders,†said the Development Office's Kim Weyer.
These funds are for refurbishing the Department of Civil Engineering, the Disability Unit, the Opera School, UCT's employment equity programme, the Hands-on-History through Heritage project, the Xhosa Literature Project, the African Studies Library, the Centre for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the Graduate School of Business, the Centre for Creative Writing, ASRU's Memory Box Project and the Commerce Library's book collection.
Donors include Hawkins, Hawkins and Osborne, Ninham Shand, Haw & Inglis, Barhale Construction, Goldfields, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the National Lottery Distribution Fund, the Swiss SA Co-operation Initiative, the National Arts Council, Pfizer Inc, and Deutsche Bank Africa Foundation.
The full funding for the refurbishment of the Civil Engineering project has now been raised.
