Laurels, honours, torchbearers, accolades - there's hardly an effusive phrase or glowing word Monday Paper hasn't used to describe the achievements of the university community. But now (ahem) it's our turn to spin some self-centred hyperbole. UCT's Impact Report, an annual glossy that showcases the university's varied research projects and scholars, has won the best external publication in the national Unitech awards. We don't yet have the judges' report to gloat over, but "outstanding" seems to be the word most are touting. Impact Report is a home-grown publication from the design and information and media teams (right) of the Department of Communication and Development (from left) Megan Morris (writing and photography), Karien van der Westhuizen (design and layout) Helen Théron (writing and editing), and Andrea Weiss (editor). (Absent: writer Nicole Chidrawi, who has since moved to Johannesburg.) Our thanks go to the researchers and scholars who graced our pages.
