Opera in Athlone
The best of Italian opera is being presented in Cape Town Opera's double bill of Cavalleria Rusticana and Gianni Schicchi in Athlone. The season of five performances runs until November 27 at the Joseph Stone Auditorium.
Angelo Gobbato directs Cavalleria Rusticana (Rustic Chivalry). Tina Mene and Nkosazana Dimande share the role of Santuzza. Mene is in her second year with the Cape Town Opera Studio and Dimande is a final-year student at the UCT Opera School.
Prices for both operas, which will be performed on the same night, range from R100 to R75. A talk will be given 45 minutes before performances. Entry to the Joseph Stone Studio is included with your opera ticket. Secure parking will be available. Book through Computicket.
Robbie Williams tribute ballet to rock Cape Town
Sean Bovim, creator of Cape Town City Ballet's hit rock ballet Queen at the Ballet and SwingTime and More, returns to the Mother City this summer to produce CTCB's end-of year dance spectacle Let Me Entertain You.
This new work, a tribute to British pop superstar Robbie Williams - who will be touring South African in April - will be performed by the dancers of the Cape Town City Ballet and costumed by fashion designers Craig Port, Malcolm Kluk and Christiaan Gabriel du Toit.
The show opens on December 10 and will run until January 7 at the Artscape Theatre.

An exhibition of works by fine artists Professor Henryk Czesnik and Josef Lange-Grumfeld, and sculptors Linda Nyongo and Theo Ntuntwana will be held until December 3 at the Irma Stern Museum.
