The South African College of Music (SACM) has released Full Spectrum - UCT Jazz, the first CD to come out under the college's name. The compilation CD features students, staff and alumni of the SACM, including big names like guitarists Jimmy Dludlu, Selaelo Selota, as well as Assoc Prof Mike Rossi, Melissa van de Spuy and, it goes without saying, the UCT Big Band under the baton of Assoc Prof Mike Campbell. Peaceful Moment by Dludlu, singer Melanie Scholtz and the UCT Symphony Orchestra conducted by Campbell; Hello From Down There by Mike Rossi and Micu Narunsky; and Taxi Cab, composed by Campbell and performed by the UCT Big Band are but some of the pieces on the CD. The album was launched at the SACM Jazz Festival in October. All proceeds from the release go towards the college's Jazz Studies Fund. The CD costs R100 and can be purchased at either Brain Books on the UCT upper campus, or by contacting Lisa Diamond at
