Dressing up for a good cause

11 November 2002
JANICE Jaftha and Reese Atherton represented the Cape Coons at the UCT Educare Centre's recent Cultural Day.

The day-long festival featured learners dressed in traditional cultural outfits of their choice, the tasting of various traditional dishes and a host of other events that kept babies and toddlers alike busy for most of the day.

According to Marilyn Hendricks, head of the Centre, Cultural Day is just one of the many events and projects the Centre offers to its learners. One of its most recent projects is the adoption of Nazareth House, an institution that cares for babies and young children with HIV/AIDS.

Hendricks says that the Centre has so far requested donations of old toys and clothes from parents, but she would like to extend the request to the rest of the UCT community, who can drop off their donations at the Educare Centre on Upper Campus.
