It was a res dinner with a difference for the Kopano residents when University of Cape Town (UCT) Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng dropped in to enjoy a meal and chat to the students on Monday, 11 March. Since the start of the academic year, the VC – known fondly as “Deputy Mother” – has made a concerted effort to reshape the relationship between the university hierarchy and the students, interacting with them regularly at events across the campus. The Kopano dinner was the latest in a series of visits to residences. Brenton Geach was there to capture all the fun.
