Fresh from its showing at the Centre for African Studies gallery at the University of Cape Town (UCT), the Confluency art exhibition headed for the National Arts Festival in Makhanda (22 June to 2 July).
The exhibition rose out of the 2023 Confluency water justice colloquium, a three-day knowledge exchange and art workshop, hosted by UCT’s Future Water Institute. It drew researchers and those working towards water justice from Canada, South Africa and wider Africa. The co-created, interactive and transdisciplinary exhibition reflected key themes from the conference through the media of comics, photo stories, videos, songs, poems, sculpture, murals and string art. The conference and exhibition were supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
