Winners' circle: (From left, front) The winners of the iPod minis were Fadila Jumare (economics and social science), Zwelisha Ngoma (information systems) and Michelle Maree (a registrar in orthopaedics). (From left, back) Busi Khangala and William Daniels, who coordinated the survey fothe libraries.

Not too long ago members of the UCT community were invited to make some telling comments about service in our libraries via an online questionnaire. Aware that many would simply set it aside for another day - or week or month - the libraries introduced an enticing incentive: three iPod minis went up for grabs in a random draw among those who had completed and returned the survey. The results were worth it says libraries' executive director Joan Rapp, who reported a 30% response rate from the 8000-strong survey group. Of great value were the respondents who provided additional comments; suggestions and pleas that will assist the libraries hone their services. The full results of the survey will be released in January/February next year. By then the iPod mini winners will no doubt have fine-tuned their music collections.
