New students have heard all about CPS and their services at the various orientation and introductory courses.
With many contractors about, staff especially are asked to keep their offices locked. They are also asked to keep an eye open for trespassers.
"Get to know the people in your building so that if you see someone lurking in a passage, you can question them or you call CPS," operations manager Vincent Ricketts said.
Recently, prompt action by staff and students lead to several arrests.
With more cars streaming onto campus, car owners are reminded to adhere to the basic safety rules: ensure your valuables aren't visible, lock them in the boot. Make sure you have a car alarm, an immobiliser or a gear lock - any anti-theft device.
As the campus spills into the community, staff and students are urged to be aware of their surroundings.
CPS plans to launch a safety campaign at the beginning of March. Please be patient at the expected roadblocks and checkpoints.
In the interim, keep doors and cupboards locked. Negligence is a no-no for 2006, says the CPS team.
