Professor Evelyn Welch, vice-chancellor and president of the University of Bristol, presented the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Vice-Chancellor’s Open Lecture on Tuesday, 7 March 2023.
Her topic: “Why Humanities Matter in a 21st Century University”, focused on the role of Humanities and Liberal Arts programmes in a world that is dominated by technology.
