Parking and emergencies/queries

06 December 2010

Parking on upper campus is always a hot topic. As part of UCT's effort to lessen congestion, the university community is reminded of the Jammie Shuttle bus service and the Ridelink initiative, which went live on 20 September.

Ridelink is described as the first university carpooling system in the country. It's a free carpooling service that works by matching users, based on their travel schedules and routes. Hosted on Vula, Ridelink can be accessed by anyone with a UCT student or staff number.

Via Ridelink, UCT carpoolers can benefit from reserved parking on campus. Parking lot P4 (next to the rugby fields) is reserved for multiple-passenger vehicles only, and access is controlled by a boom gate operated by a UCT traffic official.

Ridelink is part of the Green Campus Initiative, and is supported by the Properties and Services Department. To find out more, please visit www.ridelink.uct.ac.za.
