Social Responsiveness Report launched

21 April 2009

The Institutional Planning Department (IPD) has launched its 2008 Social Responsiveness Report. The report aims to stimulate ongoing debate within the university and more broadly on UCT's role in addressing development challenges in society. The report flows from the deliberations of the Social Responsiveness Working Group, and features a number of case studies from around campus. This includes the work of the university in response to the 2008 xenophobia crisis, the development of new and effective TB vaccines, as well as attempts to mitigate South Africa's greenhouse emissions. In the picture are Prof Jo Beall, deputy vice-chancellor; Sonwabo Ngcelwane, senior planning officer; and Judy Favish, IDP director, at the launch of the report
