Human-induced climate change reduces chance of flooding in Okavango Delta
Researchers at the University of Cape Town (UCT), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the United Nations Development Programme have analysed how human-induced climate change has affected recent flooding in an ecologically and geographically unique river basin in southern Africa, that of the Okavango River.

UCT wins lion's share of coveted NIH funding
The University of Cape Town attracted more funding for direct grants from the prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA than any other non-American university in 2013. Even as the NIH's funding of foreign institutions has declined, UCT has attracted increasing amounts of funding every year - growing more than threefold in the last 3 years alone, from $2 622 671 in 2010 to $9 150 889 in 2013.

Psycho-social support should be a key element of mental health interventions for caregivers of children in HIV-endemic communities. This is the recommendation of University of Cape Town researcher, Dr Marisa Casale, in her doctoral study titled: The protective role of social support for the health of caregivers of children in HIV-endemic South Africa.
