The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Prince Laboratory, in partnership with the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), is hosting its annual shavathon on Friday, 7 March 2025.

People are encouraged to visit the stall, which will be set up at the Faculty of Health Sciences’ (FHS) campus, and to spray, shave, donate and show support for cancer survivors.

“This event has long been a highlight in the faculty, bringing together students, staff, and researchers to raise funds for CANSA while standing in solidarity with cancer fighters and survivors. Whether you’re making a bold statement with a new look or simply showing up to support, every contribution makes a difference. Let’s come together once again to raise awareness, build community, and add some colour to the fight against cancer,” said Carly Burmeister, a PhD candidate in the Department of Human Biology’s Division of Cell Biology.

Venue: FHS quad area outside Barnard Fuller

Date: Friday, 7 March 2025
