Dr Marlyn Faure, from the Faculty of Health Sciences, conducted his research on the impact of Ebola vaccine trials in West Africa during the region's largest outbreak. Faure’s work critically examines the socio-political and cultural dimensions of vaccine deployment, highlighting the complex interplay between public health interventions and community dynamics in crisis contexts.

Another pioneering graduate, Dr Sebastian de Vos, is making significant contributions in the field of aquaculture. His research focuses on the farming of a specific type of sea urchin, which is highly sought after in the culinary markets of the far east. His work highlights substantial environmental and economic benefits, presenting a sustainable approach that has the potential to revolutionise aquaculture practices worldwide.
