Dr Sophia Sanan’s thesis explores how institutions have navigated significant shifts from colonial and apartheid contexts to becoming relevant in today’s African cities; and speculates on their future roles in society.
Dr Ichebadu Amadi from the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment is setting a new standard for sustainable construction. His thesis focuses on enhancing the properties of fire- recycled aggregates for structural concrete applications, presenting a groundbreaking approach to making concrete more resilient and environmentally friendly.

During the Faculty of Health Sciences graduation ceremony on Tuesday, 3 September, the University of Cape Town (UCT) awarded renowned biostatistician and epidemiologist, Professor Debbie Bradshaw with an honorary doctorate in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the field locally and abroad.
